Brugs will root anywhere!

I posted a while back about a mysterious wilt which was affecting some of my brugs. I got rid of all the affected ones and since I had to contact J T sessions at CG I asked him and indeed, since they're distantly related to tomatoes, brugs can be infected by verticillium wilt....just something to keep in mind if you're thinking of moving to 'in ground' from containers and have had verticillium impact your tomatoes in the past.

Anyhow, I spent most of the day taking cuttings from sideshoots to root on the other side of the house. I had taken some Solid Ggold side slips earlier in the week and put them into a couple inches water in a galvanized bucket (someone said something here (?) about them rooting better there). The incipient roots had swollen and even started to elongate so I potted them up. When I poured the water out of the bucket to exchange for fresh what did I find but 2 chewed up black walnuts with the hull bits a squirrel had chewed up. My rooting area is under a walnut tree and it must have either been perfectly poised directly above or actually sittng on the edge of the bucket. If brugs will throw roots like that in a small amt of water full of walnut soln they'll root anywhere, LOL.
