Enter the contest

Read my entry of Sat. Sept.22 on my "Tracing the Monarch Migration" thread on this page to learn how to enter a free contest. You could win a homemade butterfly stepping stone if you come closest to guessing the highest number of Monarchs that I spot in our butterfly sanctuary this year(before Oct. 6).

I'll be first-I say 121. I know it seems high but, I think the Monarchs have had a good year and there will be a lot more.

    Mike,

I'll put my guess on this thread also. 63 is the number for me.

I'm not sure where you wanted the guesses, so I posted my mine on the original thread.

    CLARIFICATION ABOUT THE CONTEST:

I check both this thread and the Tracing the Monarch Migration thread for guesses about the highest number of Monarchs spotted in Camelot before Sat. Oct. 6, so put your guess on either thread.

    Maryann,

I should have told everyone that I take care of the postage, packing/handling of the homemade butterfly stepping stone with original inlaid glass designs. It won't be long before the winner will be posted on both threads(Oct. 6).

Woo-Hoo! Ya know when people say they have never won anything before, well that's me! I never win anything, ever!
I am so excited I can't wait to see it!

Thanks for having this contest Mike..It made a really rough and yucky week much better...

    Way cool.

I was banking on the notion that you couldn't possibly *count* more than a hundred monarchs in 10 minutes, much less *walk* and *count* that number. :) Shows me, huh?

    Jeff,

My wife helps me count when the numbers get into the hundreds. She has a better eye for spotting the Monarchs nectaring on the underside of butterfly bush blooms without moving as we walk by. Maybe next year you can visit during the peak Monarch visitation to Camelot.

    Aggie,

Karen and I are so happy that you're so excited about finally winning something. Maybe you should test your new-found-luck in some lottery. Your butterfly stepping stone will be shipped today. I forgot to clean off the glass that I imbedded in the concrete before it was packed. It will look better if you clean it.

    Enjoy,

It was a fun contest, Mike. Thanks for coming up with it. And, congrats upon seeing so many Monarchs in your yard. I did not have as good a show this year. :( The winds were perfect, and most flew up high in the sky. I'm sure that the plentiful rains, and ditches full of flowers made a difference.

Congrats to you, Aggie. Please post a pic of it in its special place, when you get it.

Karen and I thank those of you who enjoyed the contest and took the time to thank us for doing something we loved doing. I have my senior moments, so please remind me each early September and I'll run the contest each year.

Mike, you're such a sweetheart! And, Aggie, congratulations! It's so fun to win something on occasion, huh? I won the Judy Burris and Wayne Richards book, signed by both of them, and I will treasure it forever!

This was great fun, Mike! Thanks for allowing us to take advantage of your love of butterflies and your talent!

    Mike,

I second and third what Linda and Susan said. This was a fun contest. And I'll throw math out the window next year and just guess! It must have been incredible to have counted so many Monarchs in Camelot. Thanks for doing this every year. I'm sure we won't let you forget.
