It is'nt a good idea grow butterworts outside for 2 reasons.
1: It might be too cold like you suggested.
2: They can't handle full sun.
You would be better off growing them on your windowsill or under growlights.

I was planning on growing it behind a pillar on my front porch, allowing morning sun, but not direct afternoon sun.

Anywho,
If I grew it inside how could I trigger dormancy? My garage has no windows, so I couldn't keep it there.

growng it behind the pillar could work, but it depends how many hours of sunlight it gets. Most cp's need at least 4 hours of light. And you would need to bring it inside for wintrer.
But if you grew it inside, you could trigger dormancy by giving it lower light levels and cooler temps.

The only problem is, I have no way of giving a dramatic temp change to trigger dormancy inside. The temp in my house only goes down about 10 degrees, 20 at most, during the winter season. Thats not enough.
Are there any methods to doing this? What do you guys who grow warm temperate butterworts do in the winter? (Directed to people that live in temperate areas)

Lower light levels/shorter days will be enough. From what i've read, a dip in temperature isnt 100% nessesary, least ways not for P. Primuliflora. Keeping it in a window and letting the seasons roll by should be enough fine.

They do well at a window sill, all year long.
