Axlerose and Greenbank (interesting brug which has primarily green foliage with some variegated limbs)

Where did you get the Greenbank Brug? Thanks, Charles

Don't believe I've heard of Axlerose.... So we have:
    1. Peaches & Cream
    2. Maya
    3. Snowbank
    4. Variegata
    5. Sunset
    6. Axlerose
    7. Greenbank
I didn't realize there were so many. Thanks, everyone.

I have been told that Sunset and Maya are the same thing. :-)

There's also a new one called 'Miner's Claim' grown by Monterey Bay Nursery in California. Beautiful variegation, fragrant and a very pretty pink bloom.

I'll provide a link to a photo I took of my plant a few weeks ago.

There are a couple more not so well known variegated ones but they have not been released yet. We also obtained a variegated one that according to the nursery sold as Peaches and Cream, which it is not. This variegated one is a very fast grower, a pure sun lover and has nodding blooms. The leave fold upward at night more than any of the other variegated ones. No Peaches and Cream, Sunset and Maya are not the same. Sunset is a pure shade lover, Peaches & Cream with take partial sun and Maya takes more sun but not full sun without drooping. Without DNA tests one can not tell if they are the same.

Ohhhhh, a variegated one for full sun? (((Karma Ole' Buddy))) LOL

Karcheskys is where you seen greenbank.....I seen Axelrose while visiting there site this weekend.I odered P&C & variegatea/Cypress gardens/HG from Logees. Those were the only 2 variegted Logees had in stock.
    I wondered.....are any variegated Doubles????

njoynit, I'm not aware of any doubles that are variegated but one nevers knows what might turn up as we have some great hybridizers out there.

LG, you want one of everyone that I have? Got a truck?

    LOL Karma!

    karmahappytoes, are you offering...?

(have been begging for varigated cuttings in the exchange forum)

LaurelLily, you would need an 18 wheeler to take home one of everything here!

I'd get an 18 wheeler just for that! : ) Sounds fair! LOL

karmahappytoes, sounds like you went hog wild for brugs! Me too, but still want doubles. I have also heard that Maya and Sunset were the same.

Could one of you help me with a possible ID of a variegated brug? Bought a number of years ago as a stick in a box - no name. This year it is finally blooming; variegated around the edges of the leaves, bloom is very downward hanging - ivory coloured, fading to peach as it ages.
    Thanks

Okay, Karma...help me out here. Do you winter your brugs over inside...are they in pots....WHAT???? I ask because I'm about to deal with eleven that must be stored in my garage after I dig and pot them up. Any advice? Thanks!

Sharon_O, I'm cutting back on what I used to have, honestly I am! LOL

alexg, each variegated one has different environments needed to grow. DNA is the only way to make a positive ID and no all variegated ones aren't the same.

pearlgirl, up until last year all our Brugmansia were wintered inside and don't laugh but we had so many inside we strung Christmas lights on them instead of putting up our tree. I do have one Rosea/Pink that is wintered in the garage as it's to big to go in the greenhouse or the Brugmansia house. Yes they are in pots from 4" to 36 gallon pots. There are very few varieties I'll leave in the ground here and the plant if put permanently in the ground will be over 4 years old to make sure they can over winter here. When you get done with yours I have a few hundred to dig up, want to come help?

I was wondering which brugs are able to stay outside over winter in the PNW I have lots of large ones that I may leave out if they are hardy here.I would bring them in this winter but plant them in the ground next spring, and leave them out..

Morning SueBB, to answer your question I have so far found Miss Anna, Frosty Pink and Isabella have made it in the ground here for our winter months. I will plant only plants that are 3 year old or older into the ground and after 4 years now Frosty Pink and Isabella didn't return this last spring, I think it was due to the ice storm we had that lasted a month last Jan. The year prior we had an ice storm that lasted less and they all returned but really slow to return with only one flush of blooms. When I dug them up to see if they made it I found mushy roots so they were tossed and I put Miss Anna in a pot off the deck as I won't be leaving her in the ground this winter now that we are allowed to put up the temp brug house per the County ordinances. I personally would not leave them out here as this was a test and I would hate to loose any of these that I have had for over any length of time. This year we tried the method that is being used in Germany of the sinking 2 pots in the ground as some of the brugs we do grow do not like their roots disturbed and will die.
