Well, I guess I'll have to hope I don't kill it before it has time to mature those baby pitchers :-) Whatever it is, it's nothing exotic or rare - the original price was $15 and I found it reduced to $4. I'm fairly new to carnivorous plants and thought I'd give this a try (besides which, I'm a sucker for a bargain!).
Any thoughts on its current pot? Too big/small/just right? It is planted in sphagnum.
nepenthes ventrata almost undoubtedly. its hard to tell by the leaves, but that is the most available species in the garden centers and drug stores. usualy marked as ventricosa or alata. ime suprised at the size. the nepenthes ive seen in a grocery store were weak shriveled things that were half dead and not worth the twenty bucks they were priced. i havnt checked any other places. i know target sells sarracenia hybrids that are marked as cobra lilies. i bought a few. not very good with temperates though. they didnt last.
