yes, that is a weed. And the red dots are natural, they occur where the pitcher is digesting (on the outside of course) BTW very nice Leucophylla. I bought a sarracenia awhile back, and only recently found out that it is a hybrid of Leucophylla and Purpurea, very beautiful!

Thanks :) Funny story about that, I called my nursery & asked if they had any CP's, she said they only had Jack In The Pulpit (not a CP but you couldn't tell her that), so I looked for MONTHS & couldn't find any. Was browsing through the same nursery in a section I never bothering going in before & found these (this and another), asked her about it & she says "Yeah, Jack In The Pulpits" *facepalm*

LOL, here is a funny one too. Yesterday I brought one of my neps with me to school, you would not believe how many people asked, "Is it going to hurt me?!" I was baffled. After answering the first question they would ask, "Can I stick my finger in it?" Uh, let me think... NO!!!

All three stems are just weeds. A flower stalk is one smooth stem that emerges first from the growing point at the end of their dormant period.

The red spots are section that has become damage during the digestion of prey, nothing much you can do about that.
