More than likely it was being grown outside before you got it so put it outside.

Do you have attic with windows or garage? That will give them the cold and lower photoperiod that they need for the winter. But for now, I don't see why they can't go outside for the next couple months (or so).

I agree. It needs to go outside to get the correct cues to go dormant. I love fuzzy tailed rats, on my dinner plate.

It's not a first. I have grown them inside under lights but I've always put any sarrs or vft out in late summer or early fall(besides seedlings) for dormancy cues. You don't like fried squirrel ?

Can't say I've had the experience... although I have fried and breaded rattlesnake, frogs legs, rabbit, buffalo, and "Mountain Oysters", at a restaurant in West Texas.
