venus fly trap bought - now what?

I bought a Venus Fly Trap for only $1 at Home Depot. Then I look up how to care for it and find out that it's now time for it to go into dormancy in a few days.

Okay, so what I've read is that you give it minimal or no light and just keep it barely moist. Then, cut the dead leaves off during dormancy.

My question is that it only appears to have the trap part, no leaves. What is supposed to still be present during dormancy? If I cut the stems off, then no more plant.

There are also a lot of baby traps emerging. Can I just skip this year for dormancy too.
