Mail Order Clematis Companies

Hi,

Perhaps someone can give me some guidance. I would really like to order the 'Fascination' clematis. I have been searching on the web for a reputable company and it seems like the companies that carry this specific clematis are not rated very high on the watchdog list on 'davesgarden.com'.

The one company that really stood out among the others, is in the United Kingdom. I have ordered seeds from the UK with no problem, however, I feel that a plant would be another matter and probably quarantined and God only knows what else.

Does anybody have a reputable nursery they deal with that would have a decent rating on the watchdog list? I have no problem dealing with companies anywhere in the US as I am looking at a mail order sitation anyway.

I'd appreciate your input.

Carolyn...I seriously doubt you can get a Clematis from the UK and if you did..would it survive such a long journey??..I doubt it..We have some very good and reputable Clematis nurseries...Joycreek and Brushwood Nurserys..Please check out Dans place at Brushwood..Hope this helps...Jeanne

Hi Jeanne,

Thank you for your help - I have looked at Brushwood and there are several clematis they have that I am interested in, however, they don't have the 'Fascination' clematis.

Yep, was just going to say - I know I've seen the Fascination in the Song Sparrow catalog -- I second their quality and size -- a bit pricey but you get great, healthy really big rooted plants.

Plants Delight is another Reputable Nursery and they have your Clematis "Fascination"..when I am researching clematis on google I always type in Clematis Fascination or Clematis Whatever..good luck...Oh and I have a friend that sells clematis but you must email me for that....Jeanne

I couldn't resist it. I have to be honest with you too, I saw a couple of clemmies on the Brushwood website and ordered 2 from them too. I ordered the Clematis Alpina Willy and the Montana Elizabeth. I am in zone 5, but we'll see how it goes. I have some other zone 6 plants that have fluorished without any problems.

There are several more that I want, but I will have to save them for another time. Something to look forward too. My problem is that I like them all!

Hi - I have ordered in the past from Chalk Hill Clematis, in California, with great success. Don't know what Daves' Garden says about that company, but I have many happy customers, with unusual clematis from there. Best, Barbara
