I am trying to salvage a group of fairly young persimmon trees that were never properly cared for after transplanting... Originally there were 140 trees... Approx. 80 survived and of those approx. 20 had to be cut down at the trunk (~3' above the ground) because the graft did not take and the root stock had grown and was probably cross pollinating...
I now have an 'orchard' of approx. 60 orientals that are fairly healthy looking about 8-10' tall and 20 cut root stock trunks that I hope can be re-grafted...
Hence my question... How/What/When/Can I graft on to those trunks...
Any recommendations re: fertilizer...
I would like to buy a book on grafting/pruning... What are your recommendations...
How important is spraying the persimmon trees/branches/leaves... With What/When...
I also have several citrus trees... tangerines/ruby red grapefruit/orange...
Thank you...
