I actually found one at Home Depot... of all places. See the thread on the Garland Series. It was under the label of a California Nursery Growers company. I'll check the tag and let you know, but you might be able to contact them for referrals to distributors.

Hi cady....I'm having trouble posting here! This is my third time trying to respond to you. Thanks so much for your reply.

Unfortunately I live in a very small town and if I want anything other than the basic flowers, I have to go about 50 minutes to the nearest HD which is okay with me if I can get what I'm looking for! You should see the looks I get when I ask a place if they carry Angel Trumpets!...like I'm from another planet! Just out of curiosity...is the Vienetta hardier than the Florida sieboldiana? Does your Vienetta have green in the center of the flower? I just absolutely refuse to order from Park Seed as I see that is the only place I've been able to locate this clematis thus far. I just don't have good luck with mail order nurseries. Are you growing yours inside or did you plant it outside? Sorry for all the questions!!

My Vienetta is a multi layered light purple or lavender color. No green, at least not yet. The Garland series also has a cultivar called Pistachio, which is white petals with a greenish color toward the center. It's pretty.

I like Jeanne's suggestion. My philosophy is if you can't find exactly what you want, find it's close cousin. You'll usually be happy with that!

Have you tried searching with Google for Vienetta? You might find a listing. It's a Ray Evison variety (from England), and there may be distributors carrying that group of clematis.

Thank you all for all your help! I took the "plunge" today and ordered the vine. I had seen the Florida sieboldii and couldn't figure out the difference between that and the Vienetta. I cannot wait to get this. Right now I'm still waiting for some of this 24+ inches of snow to melt away that we got this past weekend! I just think this clematis is absolutely gorgeous! I'm sure my next clematis will be the pistachio...had to flip a coin on which to buy first...the Vienetta or the Pistachio. I wish you all great success with your clematis'!

You can be sure that they will be charging big $$$$$ for it there! lol

FYI--parkwholesalegrowers.com has this clematis on sale for $2.99. I bought one today and can't wait to get it! I think this place is affiliated with Wayside--but I'm not sure. I was looking for roses, but can't resist clematis and this one is SO unique.

Do you grow yours in partial sun to full shade?

This is a best performing Clematis. I have a C. Viennetta from HD last fall, overwintered it inside the house, repotted it this spring.

It hasn't stopped blooming since Fall, even bloomed inside the house. And the blooms last a long time, about six weeks. First, the display with the tepals, and after the tepals are gone, the center pompoms.

It is so good that I ordered two more from Park's at $2.99 each.

I wonder how it will do outdoors at Virginia zone 7 winters?

WOW - that is absolutely gorgeous!!!! I am going to have to get myself one of those. Now are you going to keep this in the house - or can you plant it in the garden? Because I live in B.C. Canada - I just am not sure about the hardiness of these plants. Does anyone know? Actually I wouldnt mind just keeping it as a house plant but is that adviseable on these??? Golden

golden, I will post a picture of the tag from mine so that you will know as much about it as I do. In your climate I wouldn't hesitate to keep it indoors in a pot as a house plant. I think it would last a long time, but that's a guess. Here's the tag:

Vancouver BC is USDA zone 7-8 ish. My friend grows many Clematis in pots on his north facing balcony in downtown Vancouver. Including Florida sieboldii which is supposed to be tender.

Clematis would need supplemental lighting to thrive indoors in the Pacific Northwest because we are so dang cloudy and dark for so many months. Plants that thrive in north windows in sunnier climates need direct sun here.

Well, I beat out Bob414. I was in Lowe's and they had a big "distressed" plant clearance - Fill the shopping cart for $5. Among the treasures this Clematis.
For those of you less fortunate and quick on clicking your mouse, $2.59 at Park Seed Co. Wholesale. Shipping may be steep with just a single order, but probably still a bargain if you buy a couple of other sale items.

Your clematis may end up like my sister's and mine did. We bought ours (Bloomrite) from Meijer here in Michigan the winter before last. It was in with their houseplants. Ours was Pistachio. At home both got some kind of spidermite and looked ready for the compost heap. I cut it back severely and waited...same with my sister's. They both came back healthy. As soon as it was reasonable to do so, I planted it outside. It bloomed nicely that summer and overwintered this past winter just fine. It is blooming nicely right now. I don't think most clematis would be long-lived indoors.
