I've had a lot of luck with Alabast and Claire de Lune, which may have a different name, in shade. I've also grown some into a small crabapple tree, which works well, a birch tree that they killed, and a yew, which they have killed only where their leaves kept light from reaching the yew, so that's been a mixed bag.

One place to start searching is Clematis on the Web which has a search function. If you go down to "Aspect" the drop-down menu includes shade and semi-shade.

The only two clematis I have grown in shade (probably about 3 hours of morning sun) are Venosa Violacea which bloomed and grew well for several years until the voles killed it one winter, and a plant I bought as Polish Spirit which has never bloomed in about 5 years and so is getting moved to a sunnier spot this spring.

Many of the white or pink type IIs will take quite a bit of shade. Many pinks and some purples fade badly without it.
