You might want to consider Hagley Hybrid, a type III. I typically get one main flush of blooms and then intermittent blooms later on. If you cut it back hard after its first bloom and then keep it watered well and fertilized, you might get another reasonably large flush of blooms later in the summer or early fall. I have never tried to cut this one back since it has never browned out for me.

This clematis can fade if given too much late afternoon sun so you might want to site it with an easterly exposure.

Hagley Hybrid faded badly for me in full sun. Not sure yet how it will do in partial sun, I just moved it last summer.

What about Comtesse De Bouchard??

I love my Marmori. It is a seedling of Hagley hybrid, which I also love as well. It is very carefree. It blooms a long time and doesn't get too large.

The lower leaves on my Hagley turn brown and die. Sometimes it progresses up the plant. Don't like it doing that?

No Carol. I am more into the viticellas, the bell shaped flowers and the unusual, not to mention all the seeds I have started. Another pink flowering clematis is the last thing I need.
