Thanks all. Perhaps Julie will chime back in here but I think it is either the March or April issue. The issue has an article about clematis with the editor talking to various people who grow them commercially as well as homeowners who are growing them in various parts of the US to help give an overview of the different growing issues in the different growing zones.

It is in the April, 2008 issue of Organic Gardening. Not only is Miguel mentioned, but Edith, the president of the Amer. Clem. Society, and my former co-worker is also quoted. How fun! I feel like I know famous people.

Good to know Julie. I am still waiting for the copy that was to be sent to me. I guess you must subscribe to the magazine and that is why you got yours early. I think they also interviewed Murray Rosen at Chalk Hill and Dan Long at Brushwood or at least I think I remember the editor saying that when we talked on the phone.

This is so great! Miguel, you are a kind angel of this forum. You and Jeanne (and many other people of course) helped me so many times with my Clematis. Congratulations!

I agree 100% with Harry! It is always gratifying when one's extensive experience and knowledge base is publically recognized and acknowledged. We appreciate it so much here, but now the greater clematis gardening public can take advantage of it as well. Congratulations, Miguel!!

Thanks Harry and Gardengal. When the editor asked me if I wanted to be identified in the article as an expert, I said no way--that I was just someone who loved clematis, had grown many in my garden-some successfully and some not so successfully, and was more than glad to share my experience with anyone who needed help. I told her that if I was anything I was a definite clematis enthusiast and nothing more. I am excited to actually see the article so I may have to go to Borders or somewhere similar this weekend and pick a copy up!

Miguel, how wonderful for you! I have to humbly disagree with you. You are much more than an enthusiast to me. You have answered so many of our beginner questions here on the forums. You have enhanced my gardens multiple times over with your guidance and intoductions to new clems that I never would have found without you.

I finally found the magazine at Barnes and Noble. Yay! I can't wait to read the article. Miguel, I agree with everyone else, you are so smart and observant about clematis, you are kind and helpful to everyone and the backbone of this forum. I felt quite lost when you took a break this winter :-)

Thanks for your kind words Carol. Everyone needs a break sometime and late fall/early winter is my break time. Not much going on in the garden, the holidays, etc. Hope you enjoyed the article. Not sure if I am going to make it out this weekend to get a copy or not.

Finally got around and got a copy of the OG magazine. One thing that needs to be clarified here that was not quite clear in the article was what I said about the tanguticas being weedy and seedy. That comment was made regarding clematis tangutica the species. The two other varieties of clematis I have had experience with were Helios and My Angel which were removed from my garden due to the fact that they sent runners out and I didn't want to give them full run in my garden due to their spreading nature.

Hey, Miguel! Finally got out and picked up a copy today. I'm really glad Therese got ahold of you. You know more about growing clematis in the hot humid southeast than anyone else I know. Good to see it recognized in print!

Thanks Danny. I am sure there are others who live in even more humid and hot areas than I do who have experience with growing clematis. Sure do wish they would join in here and share their wealth of knowledge as well. The more the merrier!
