Hey Tex Lady..I am growing it in zone 8B..and it bloomed even in January!!..With any clematis..you must keep them moist ..even moreso during drier, hotter times...I find growing mine in Morning Sun /half day sun better than full sun...it's just too bloody hot here during the summer to grow them otherwise...It can be done but they fade and you must water like mad...Jeanne

Thank you so much. Yes, I believe that is the best thing to do. I have not had the best of luck with some clematis. I have two that seem to thrive. But the others have bit the dust. I think I havent kept them watered adequately.

Yes .not watering them enough was my failure the first time at them..but I was determined to have them and started growing them in part sun and lotsa water and have been successful..goodluck..oh and fertilizing and Alfalfa Tea has been wonderful for mine..I use 13-13-13 at the same time I prune on Feb. 14th and again after they bloom..I can get sometimes three bloom cycles from my pruning group 3's by repruning after they finish and fertilizing again...Jeanne

I am in Central Texas and need one that will grow at least 8 ft tall but prefer taller. Any ideas. All help is appreciated as always.

Yo Calverttx..what color do you like..you can always go onto COTW ..aka Clematis on the Web and search by color,variety,pruning type etc..but can make suggestions if you tell me what color you like...Jeanne
