I only have one clivia, I know there are no others around for miles, and mine make fertile seeds.

If the berries are good sized and produced at least pea sized or bigger (bean seed size??), then they are good. If they are tiny and soft, they aren't viable. Most Clivias are self fertile. The best example is China. They have so inbred their Clvias for many Clivia generations after starting many decades ago with supposedly 6 plants.

I produce self crossed fertile seeds every year. A few plants are self sterile. You only get to that conclusion after trying to self a few years and finally give up. Selfed berries are often times small and give 1-2 seeds. Often times round versus the flattened triangular seeds you might see in a alrger pod with 6-12 seeds.

The clivia 'cherry' holds from 1-3 seeds, sometimes 4, and isn't ripe until it turns bright red, which takes several months. I pick these ripened cherries and let them sit until the skin becomes slightly wrinkled, and then peel all the pulp off of the seeds. I usually let the seeds dry naturally for 48 hours, but you should bear in mind that a dry clivia seed is a DEAD clivia seed, so no more than 48 hours. I have also found that they start best in pure sphagnum moss, which seems to promote huge root growth. The seeds, like the rest of the plant, are toxic, but I'm not sure just how poisonous they might be...

Plant the seeds just below the surface, then add a little more sphagnum as they grow...

Caigr, my berries are larger than peas. They are starting to turn brownish now. This particular Clivia is Golden Dragon.
I'm very excited to see the seed and to see what it becomes.
