Has anyone used Changsha as a rootstock. I know it is quite cold hardy and durable and I wonder if anyone has ever used it as rootstock and what there experiences were.
I had one on its own roots from woodlanders, grew slower than dirt for me and i got sick of looking at it. can't imagine it would impart much activity to a scion.
I have one in my shopping cart at woodlanders, as well as a razzlequat. Bklyn, how was the tree health and size you got from woodlanders. I haven't ordered from them before. I don't know how Changsha does as rootstock, but I would like to plant one in ground here.
the tree was OK health wise on its own roots seed grown, very small, one of the slowest growers ever and I never got it do do much. I would think you would want to maybe graft it to a vigorous trifoliate hybrid rootstock or grow it up first - a pain staking process. It would be VERY slow to recover from any winter damage. razzlequat eh?
