I've read this somewhere - that if the sheath (around the bottom of the leaves, where they come out of the matrix) of a seedling/young plant is red(dish) then the flowers will be orange, but if the sheath is not red, the flowers will not be red. I got some seeds last year from a free offer, of yellow-flowered clivia. The donor said the seeds got all mixed up by a cat (or squirrel, I can't remember which). I would like to keep just one or two plants, so if what I read is true I will give away the red-sheathed plants. Is it true? or is there no way to know?
