Hello all,

I'm new to the world of Clematis, but after some careful research, I've decided on Henryi. I actually just got 2 of them today.

So the situation is:

I have a wall that faces due East, with lattice-work mounted on it. My plan is to plant the Henryi at the ends of the wall, and let them grow up into the lattice. The bed that lies in front of this wall is approximately 10x2 feet, and is currently populated by a small Viburnum (Viburnum suspensum) and some Mexican False-Heather (Cuphea hyssopifolia).

How much room does Henryi need? Will it tolerate these plants growing within 12 inches of the base?, or should I clear out more space for the Clematis?

Beyond that, of any Henryi growers... what cultural conditions have worked best for you?
