I've never used it as a fertilizer for my plants, but I read that it is a good deer repellent. I bought a bag of it yesterday. I will try to use it to deter deer and rabbits.
Since it is a Nitrogen fertilizer, it will promote a green growth, but not root development and/or blooming. I would not use it as a fertilizer for Clematis and roses. Most of us use rose or tomato fertilizers (Rose-tone and Tomato-tone organic are my favorite) and alfalfa meal. Alfalfa meal and pellets are great for roses and daylilies too.
