I'm sure they would love to climb a chain link fence.

Should grow just fine but realize that they will grow to the top and then flop over once they do reach the top. You can guide the vines and direct them to grow laterally and then allow them to climb straight up--sort of like an espaliered fruit tree.

they grow just fine on chain-link fences, but the blooms will develop primarily on the east side (good if the fence is to the west, not so much if it is to the east.
