bold colors?

I know nothing about clematises and would appreciate some suggestions for varieties that have bold colors, especially shades of pink or blue.

I want them along a wooden fence so they don't need to grow very tall, but I do want them to grow dense enough to provide some privacy between May to early September.

The location has morning shade and I live in WA state.

Where in WA are you located? The reason I ask is that one of the largest wholesale growers of clematis is located in Woodinville, WA and sells to most of the local garden centers and retail nurseries. You should be finding a great selection of clerms in stock soon or even now, with blooming clematis available late May/early June.

Some of the LFH or pruning group 2 clems have great intense colors. Nelly Moser is one you should consider - very popular pink with a darker bar, will tolerate reasonable shade and a heavy bloomer.

I had no idea, I'm about 20 minutes from Woodinville, now I definitely have to go there!
