Most of mine are so small that only close ups show them.....Many should be a lot bigger this year though.

i have a large property (an acre), and I'm not quite sure how to landscope it. looking for *lots* of help.

I have clematis growing everywhere and they are mixed in with roses and perennials so this is just a small section of the garden but you can get an idea, I think.

Thank you, Miguel, a cottagey feel is exactly what I like and what I was trying to accomplish. When you look at it every day it's hard to see if it's working out exactly like I see it in my head. I'm happy it looks like a cottagey garden to your eyes! I must be on the right track!

Jeanne, thank you! You are absolutely right. I pack clematis in just like I pack roses and 50 gazillion other plants into my tiny garden. Anywhere there is a speck of dirt! Sometimes I forget I have planted things and have delightful surprises when they show up in spring. Had some lovely gladiolas pop out of the ground a week or so ago.... Every time more clematis arrive, DH asks me where on earth are you going to put those? I always find a place :-) You and Miguel are responsible for a large number of the clematis I've chosen the past two years.

Oh how funny... I had to do a demo of a product via Webex for about 30 clients yesterday morning, so everybody was looking at my computer monitor remotely. At one point I had to minimize a window to get into something else, so everyone saw my desktop wallpaper. It was so adorable to hear everyone gasp in unison!

Ahhh, thanks you guys! I appreciate your very kind words more than you know! Denise, actually my next door neighbor is a mean old lady who doesn't like my garden at all. Of course, she doesn't like anything. She has one raggedy tree in her back yard and some dead flowers in the front. Fortunately, there is a fence between us :-)The neighbors on the other side of my house and everyone else in the neighborhood loves it.

Your yard is beautiful...and mine is soooooo far away from being like yours. I just got my first Clematis today - Alba Luxurians, Venosa Violacea, Warsaw Nike, Purpurea Plena Elegans, Polish Spirit, Etoile Violet, Prince Charles, Bonanza, Huldine and Gypsy Queen...and I will soon have another Alba and a Minuet.

We just stopped at the hardware store to get some wire fencing to attach to my wooden fence today. Hubby is undecided - he doesn't want anything to look "junky". I thought we'd staple the vinyl green covered wire fencing to our fence for the Clems, and I can hardly wait until mine are full grown (in three years I'm guessing??). Your yard looks so cozy, and I love the privacy that all your plants provide. Like you, our houses are close together with our neighbors.

Kim, Thank you. Soon your garden will look the same. This garden is about 8 years old. It takes a good three years for most any plant to be at their best, especially clematis. Have fun and enjoy watching them grow.

Kimcoco, you will soon have a beautiful flowering fence. If possible, I would get hubby to try to put a spacer between the wooden fence and your wire fence, to allow your clematis to twine in and out. Pics before and after too.

I was shocked to hear you have a neighbor who dislikes your abundant blooms. A garden like yours is a gift to the neighborhood.

I added some clematis to my garden for the first time just last year. My H F Young is in bloom, and it's so GLORIOUS I had to add eight more varieties, plus three steel arches for roses and clems...
