For those of you who grow your brugs in containers....

What is your favorite potting soil? Scott's? Miracle Gro?

I get my potting mix from one of our local garden centers...They mix it up themselves...I also use Miracle Grow to fertilize during the growing time.

I'm so new to brugs that I've only repotted a couple of times. But I used a mixture of Scott's potting soil, Miracle-gro cactus/palm soil and perlite. But I've heard that the Jungle Growth works well and I'm going to use that next time. I think the main thing to consider is good drainage. But like I said I am very new to brugs and having had much experience to compare soil types.

Personally I think most of the bagged soils that you can get at HD and the like are garbage. The best bagged soil by far is Fafard. 3-B is their most popular all purpose mix.

I have been using the Jungle Growth in the 3 cu ft bag from Lowes. If I have mg sometimes I mix it in. I always add some perlite or other stuff like sand or orchid mix etc. depending on what it is I am potting up. If I have some good compost, milorganite, or worm castings I throw that in too.

Can't be to picky where I live...LOL You won't even find the makings to mix your own.. I use MG and perlite for new cutting and such.. MG when I repot.. Not like it rains here not much threat of staying to wet...LOL
Alot of what you choose depends on your conditions..

I use MG and Jungle Growth, whichever is cheapest. I compared MG and JG prices per quart at Lowe's last week and they both ended up being the exact same price (yes I had my calculator out). During the spring and summer Sam's carries MG and it's much cheaper buying the huge economy bag from them when they have it. Both MG and JG have always worked great for me.

I use cacti/succulent potting mix with loads of perlite and fertilize every week....I have about 8 in pots around my deck areas and they are doing so well....at present, with the tropical weather coming, I may have to move them in more shade but we'll see.

Earthgro found at HD is what we buy in the fall.

I use Miracle Gro or Expert Gardener (I think it is only carried by walmart). They both seem about the same form me so I usually go with the EG because it's a little cheaper. I agree that it comes down to drainage, don't buy the real cheap stuff that is like a brick of mud.

I use miracle Grow also. But I am not set on it. Sure want to try the HD EArthgro next year. Nothing wrong with trying out different things. So far thou the MG is great for the angels.

I used FREE fine mulch from the Philadelphia Water Treatment Facility. We loaded up the back of my DH's pickup truck more than a couple of times.Added some potting soil, compost, peat moss and alot of perlite. Worked great for me! Especially since I'm so lax about fertilizing!LOL
