Completely Clematis website has it but be prepared to pay an arm and a leg for a plant from them that will be small compared to what you receive from other nurseries.

you are exactly right about how i was looking for this clematis. FYI, joycreek doesn't have it in stock -- I've been on their waiting list for more than a month now. I ordered it from Chalk Hill. I'm a little concerned because I've heard some bad things about the quality of their plants. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'll post back here if the plant is substandard.

No problem Jxa. That is weird about Joy Creek because when you click on the availability of Blue Boy it says that they have two plants available.

I don't think you will have to worry about the quality of Chalk Hill's clematis. I personally just don't like the media that the plants are planted it since it tends to fall away from the plant when you remove it from the pots. They used to sell their plants in fiber pots that could be planted directly in the ground so the issue was nonexistent at that time.

OK everybody, i got my clem today from chalk hill -- and it is *gorgeous*! the only problem is that it came without any identification at all -- none in the pot, none on the pot and no invoice. so i'm concerned that this is really blue boy,

as i said, the plant is large, but it doesn't seem to climb with those clingy tendrils -- isn't 'blue boy' a climber?

Nope Blue Boy is definitely not supposed to be a climber. It may surprise you and wrap some of its petioles around branches and be self supporting. My Alionushka has does that in the past.
