Looking for suggestions on a clematis to climb a topiary outside my sunroom window. It's about 4 feet tall and makes a stunning focal point to that part of my garden. I originally planted a jackmanii under it, and subsequently fell in love with clems! It's first season it wound a single strand of leaves and flowers and barely reached the top of the topiary. Season 2 it took off, and in an effort to give it somewhere to go DH tied a piece of twine to it's top and my house, which looked a bit odd, but I guess gave it some room. Season 3 it all but ate the topiary (of course, the goal) and since I hadn't loved the twine look I just let it go, tucking it back into the middle portion of the topiary when I could. It spent most of the summer swaying around like a giant praying mantis waiting to eat one of my children.

So this is season 4, and it's been moved (what a root ball!) to a lovely spot next to my arbor swing to give it the room it needs.

BUT, now I have an empty topiary and a lonely spot next to my sunroom again. I'd love to stick another clematis there, but don't want to repeat the forementioned 3 year cycle over and over. Most of the vines I've looked up are 8-10 feet vines.

So my question, any shorter vines out there that people would recommend? I put a Henryii and a Pink Champagne close by on another arbor, so wouldn't want to repeat those, but otherwise have no preference as far as color, etc. Spot gets AM sun, PM shade.
