I can see that you live in NM. But I do live in Washington state and I have sucessfully grown Armenian cucumbers for many years with Sweet Peas (the climbing flowers).I have a 8'wire screen and 6' wide.Because these cukes love to climb.But I have also grown these cukes with Clematis Vine.They weave into each other and it's quite a sight to see.:) ***Suzanne

Radish is a must with any type of cucumber. It helps keep cucumber beetle controlled. Also marigold, nasturtium, and zinnia are useful companions too. I have also used sunflower successfully. I am trying yarrow, oregano and tarragon this year. Good luck

Thank you for your suggestions. I think it may already be too hot for sweet pea. We had some growing wild in my neighborhood in Atlanta and I seem to remember it did better in the cooler weather. I have chives, onions and Egyptian onions coming up in the bed from last year when tomatoes grew there. They are all aromatic so maybe that will do the trick. I believe radishes also like cooler weather. Is that right?

Radishes mature very quickly, in about a month. Also Cherry Belle, Rat's Tail, White Icicle are all heat tolerant varieties. Onions and chives will work great.
