Lois...It's "Daniel Deronda"..and yes its a loverly Clematis..It has been in my gardens for 4 years and seems slower to get established than most..but that just might be me..After this flush..I am going to hard prune him and see if I can get more vines to emerge from the soil...Jeanne

Daniel Deronda is about ten years old. No, he wasn't slow. I have Clemmies bought at the same time that were slow and still don't look that good. No idea what the big difference is except there are no tree roots where DD is and there are some where they are.

Bobcat is about five ;) he showed up one day, I found his owners and then they moved away and left him so I kept him.

The Clematis under him is Twilight and the white one is Arctic Queen. Both have been less vigorous though are a lot younger, less than five years old. All planted from gallon pots.

Aww..there's the difference..Mine is only 4 years old..and very small pot when I got him..but nice to see what he'll be when he grows up..thanks...Jeanne

Thanks to all who responded and posted pictures. I went back today but it was nowhere to be seen. At least I'll know if I see another to grab it right away.
