Anybody ever heard of these two phloxes? Starfire is cherry red and Miss Kelly is lilac with an eye.

I can't believe that nobody has offered a suggestion of some companions for either of these two plants.

I think one of the salvias (they come in red and purple) at the feet of both would bridge the color gap pretty well...

the standing phloxes need good air circulation to prevent powdery mildew from taking hold, so something fluffy like russian sage does well beside them.

hollyhocks make good 'anchors' behind them, since they're even more vertical in nature (the black ones are particularly striking)

I know nada about daylilies- mine are traditional orange dug from the ditches. but I think any of the darker ones would work with the starfire... whereas I don't know that there's one that would go well with the violet - though some of the 'plum' series might be ok, since they can have green or pink eyes, which would be nicer than a yellow one.

Thanks! I'll mention that to my Dad. He probably already knows all about him. Dad made his living playing electric and classical guitar when I was growing up in the 60's.
