Type 1's tend to bloom earlier, so I would do a macropetala followed by a few large flowered hybrids of your choice, and then for long lasting flowering into the end of the season, a viticella of some sort (venosa violacea is a favorite around here).

Integrifolias have a very long bloom time in my experience, so you could do them at the base of your vines for a nice show, as well.

With those, you could trim all except the macropetala down to the bottom every year, for easy care.
