I am wondering if I could intersperse my trellised melons with cosmos and/or dalhias...has anyone seen/heard of/tried either of these combinations? I am trying to make the most of limited space and thought these would look nice together, but am concerned that the flowers might keep the melons from reaching their full potential. Also, I will putting in quite a bit of compost for the melons...will excessive fertilization keep the flowers from blooming well?
