Brug bouquets...

...are wonderful! We're on the cusp of frost here in northwestern 'Bama, and every night I've been cutting a handful of tips, laden with flowers. The scent is wonderful! And after the flowers are done, the cuttings are well on their way to rooting.

This year, I've lifted and taken into the greenhouse several flowering plants---Species (3!), Double Golden Lady, Butterfly (2), Versicolor Orange, Miami Orange Glow, and a Peaches 'n Cream that should flower any day now.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to smell brugs all winter long? (*keep your fingers crossed for me!*)

    CONGRATS!!!!
Sounds wonderful! I am still trying to decide what to do with the potted ones I have. Keep them under the house (58* year round) with the bananas or to bring them in the house...OH to have a beautiful greenhouse...LOL I love the thought of fresh brewed coffee a warm muffin and the honey smell of brugs on a cold breezy morning...I hope they last for a looong time. Got my fingers crossed for ya on the others be sure to send pics!!!!

I didn't know you have cold breezy days in Texas.
Fresh brewed coffee and a (homemade muffin) sure does sound good.
For sure there is nothing like the fragrance of the Brugs
Funny I notice here in Canada, that the Brugmansia seem to like cool wheather. They really come into their own once it gets cool To bad for us that it gets - just a little to cold.

I should have brought my blooms in, but frost hit so quickly here this year. And unexpectedly.
Yes all send photos on the forum
Nothing better than to come on line and see some gorgeous brugmansia pictures

Depends on where ya'll are in Texas as to the weather. Here in Galveston we break out the parkas when it gets to the 70's. Our last "cold" front dropped temps all the way down to..gasp!..67! DEGREES! We turned on the heater!

But the brugs do like the cooler weather. Move on down here, you can smell brugs year round. My bloom on & off for most of the "winter". They even bloomed after our record snow a couple of years ago on Christmas day-a first ever for us! And man was I panicked! I covered the brugs, the snow weighed down the covers & broke off tons of branches. I was out pulling in bromeliads in the middle of the night. Nothing seemed to suffer for it all.

I am new to brugs (just got 4 in a plant exchange in September). Here in Minnesota, I know I am going to have to treat them much differently from the way most of you can handle them. Luckily, the man who brought them to the exchange has been devoted to them for years and I am probably going to drive him crazy with questions over this first year.

I just clicked onto the brug forum for the first time. Imagine my surprise and delight at seeing the "Brug bouquets" posting. That is one of the things I had been wondering about, but assuming that it probably was not to be. So far, my 12 to 18" rooted brug cuttings are looking just great. I was told not to be surprised if I got white flies over winter (so far, not).

If they start looking distressed in any way, I am going to be right on the horn to you folks. I am determined to give these gorgeous beauties a fair chance. Carmellia

I have actually done the brug bouquets thing myself when I have had to prune branches hanging over the roof, windows, or pool cage. I just can't bear to throw the flowers or buds out with the branches, so I cut the tips off and put in vases on the nightstand or dining room table. Although here in South Florida we can have the windows open most of the year, so of course we have placed brugs strategically where the evening breezes will carry the scent through the open windows and about the house.
