Cut back after flowering or not?

Most of my clematis are young, 1-3 years old. It took me a year or two to figure out the pruning, at least to feel confident about what I was doing.

But my question now, is, do you cut back after flowering? Somewhere along the way, I read that cutting back after flowering, especially in a younger clematis, can encourage vine growth and a second rebloom.

Is this what most people do? Or, is it best to just leave it alone until later winter pruning time?
