Moving a Clematis

My clematis is planted right next to a concrete column. I wanted to move it over a foot so it could have some more space and the trellis base could be at the base of the plant. Is it difficult to move them? Anything I should be aware of? It's just a little guy right now. Here's a pic:

Not the best time to move one - fall or very early spring would be better - but it can be done, especially as the clem is still so small. Dig as large as rootball as possible, trying NOT to disturb or damage the clematis roots as much as possible. And have the new planting location already prepared before you move. Replant as quickly as you can and water in well.

You may experience some transplant shock and the vine may or may not bloom according to schedule this season. Just keep an eye on it, cutting back as necessary, and keep it well watered.

I don't know about Z:5 but here in Z:4 it is still very early spring and a great time to move clematis as temps are mostly cool and we are still having spring rains.
