Clems planted too deep?

I just got my clems mail order. I planted them about 5 to 6 inches deep. This toooooo deep? Or will it survive better with our cold winters here? The clems are Henryi and Rebecca type 2's. Henryi was a very good size from Brushwood Nurseries. About a foot tall or more and bushy. But, Rebecca was from Bluestone Perennials and was in a small pint size container only about 8 inches tall.
