Ok, I learned about pruning type and when they will flower. I learned about the sun/shade for the ones I ordered. I learned that the root system is way way too important, etc. I learned that I need to treat them as type 3 for few years although they are type 2s.

I researched them on COTW. I ordered from Koi Gardens. I repoted them and made them a 4 foot high Tee-pee out of bamboo poles to clime. Placed them in semi shade for the summer since I got them too late for California.

My problem and question is why don't they just clime up rather than falling flat on their faces? Do I have to manually tie them up just like roses? I thought they did pull themself up?
