clem that starts with a as_____

I found a few gallon clematis at a very small local nursery. They had Jackmanii, nelly moser, and nioble, They also had one with a tag that was broke in half, and all I could read were the first two letters. AS_____. Any one have a guess what it might be. They were only $5, so I figured I deserved a surprise, only problem is I'm not sure where to plant it now. Thanks

Ditto. Those you mentioned are quite common, so Asao would be my guess too.

Thank-you so much. I knew it would be a common one, but I'v still got alot to learn about clematis. I think I will plant this on the east side of my house as I understand this fades in the hot sun. I would like to pair this with a dark purple. Any Ideas? Thanks again.

Could very well be 'Ascotiensis' also :-) This is a quite common LFH with pale lavender blue flowers.
