The only advice I can offer is to pot them up and grow them back out in pots and then replant. No one can guarantee that the plants will survive or not, but at least in pots you can insure they are getting the appropriate water and nutrition they will need to recover. I assume you cut the back the vines appropriately so that the damaged roots don't have to support all the top growth that may be there already.

As to whether they will bloom this year or not, it will depend on too many factors including pruning type, how bad the roots were damaged, how fast they recover, your growing season length, etc for anyone to guess at that. I think your main concern now is to do whatever is required to get them to survive since you thought they were important enought to dig up and take with you. If they survive, you will have blooms in subsequent years.

Thanks for the advice. Fortunately the new growth was just starting and I did put them into pots for easier transport to my new place.They still looked pretty good today so my fingers are crossed for a positive outlook.

I transported four pick up loads of plants from a rental house to this one that we bought and almost all of them made it. They weren't dug up carefully either because of the help that I had from husband's friends.

I dig up and move plants all around my yard too and most make it. Keeping them watered the first summer is the biggest key I've found.

I move mine around too, but although some survive, they never get back their vigour and even tually just peter out! I am finally replacing them as I think waiting 4-5 years for them to grow bigger is way too long. What I might do, as per your suggestions, is put them in gallon pots, water and fertilize them and see what happens.
