clematis cuttings

Im looking for cuttings of any shade purple clematis.Am trying to learn to root these babies. can anyone help?

Try looking at the following info for how to root clematis from cuttings. Better to look locally for someone who has a clematis who can share cuttings.

Some broke off my new ones last year so I tried to root them with that aquarium bubbler thingie from Wal Mart. Went on for a month or more. Nothing. Probably should have used rooting powder but I didn't know how to use that with water.

Right now I'm trying to layer one, just buried an axil? with leaves in soil. Maybe I should have stripped the leaves off. The tip is still growing but it can't have rooted yet; I'll wait a month or two and see.

I'd be more into rooting clematis but no place to put too many. People around here only grow the commonest ones so I'd have to use cuttings from my own plants.
