clematis as natural fence

I have a split rail fence with chicken wire that runs the perimeter of my yard. i want to plant climbing vines around it to make my fence line more natural looking. parts of my fenceline are exposed to full sun while others get almost full shade. can i plant clematis in both the full sun and full shade parts and expect success? from what i understand they are more shade tolerant. any comments/suggestions will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Defining full shade can be difficult, so it's hard to say for certain, but generally, yes they'll be fine. Expect those with more sun to be a bit more vigorous, but more prone to fade quickly, while the shadier ones will tend to have their flowers remain more vibrant, but probably have less of them. You might try to choose your cultivators and placement accordingly.
