What is that? Weird!

Yesturday I noticed this weird leaf on my Niobe

As you see it's definitely leaf, not a petal, but its 'colored' part have exactly the same color as the flowers.

This particular plant always behaves sort of different than his seebling on an opposite side of the arch.

One year it grow to 8'+, cover all his side of the arch, climb over, never wilts, bloom two times a year and everything is looks good. But next year everything above 2' off the ground dies and by the end of the season it barely gain 5' in a height with a lot of intermediate wilting.

It's in a ground for 5 or 6 years, so I guess it already passed the juvenile stage and should behave as an adult.

Anyway, this leaf-petal puzzles me.

Exposure to cold temps and perhaps even warm temps can cause strange green coloration on the sepals. Nothing to worry about though!

Alba Luxurians typically has some green on the sepals but the early flowers tend to have more due to the cooler temps. Here is a picture of an early flower. Sorry I haven't taken a picture of it recently but all of the newer flowers are solid white.

Miguel it right..I've seen those same funky looking bits on my clematis and leaves from a cold spell...I think they are neat looking myself...Jeanne

Some of mine have done it too. We did have a cold snap after warmer weather.
