Carrie, I have all three and you are right that they are similar in color. Kermesina is the darkest of the three. Sometimes my Kermesina has a bit more white in the center than it does other years. All three have done fine in my zone7 garden. Kermesina and Julia Correvon have both been in the garden 4 years and of the two Julia Correvon took off the fastest although Kermesina has done some major catching up the past year or so. Abundance was planted last year and seems rather vigorous as well. The individual differences in vigor may simply have to do with the condition of the original plant, where it was planted, and how much attention they were given. I must admit that those clematis further away from the house and spigot do get a little less attention from me than ones closer up to the house.

Here are two pictures using different lighting to compare the blooms. I know that picture taking can alter the color that shows up on screens but having all three side to side can give you a general comparison. All three were picked today and I tried to get blooms that looked as fresh as possible since flower color can change dramatically in my zone with sun exposure. Top that off that yesterday and today we were in the 90s.

Janet, that is what this forum is all about--sharing advice, experience and pictures to enable others to get bitten by the clematis bug!

I have all three as well. In my garden they bloom at different times. My MJC is blooming now. My Abundance should start blooming in July and the Kerminsina blooms for me in August. So even though they are similar in color they bloom at different times in my garden to extend the season.

Thanks for the added info, flowerfan. Enough die-hards here to fuel my budding addiction, I see.

Here's another one to add to the color vein mix. This one, I purchased a few weeks ago: Barbara Harrington. How is she different from the others? I can't believe I purchased FOUR hot pink clematis within a couple of weeks of each other. And my garden is only about 500 square feet, including patio & dense shade!

Flowerfan, only goes to show that info about when these clematis bloom is far from being correct. They will bloom when it is appropriate for them to do so in each person's garden, so trying to choose a clematis for blooms at a specific time is really futile.

Don't have Barbara Harrington Carrie so can't offer any picture comparisons of it.
