Mine isn't anywhere near blooming yet, but last year, it was one of my favorites. What an striking color combination. Really eye-catching. I'm hoping for an even better show this year.

Great shot of one of my favorite viticellas Harry. It is interesting how much variation in the tepal variegation there is from flower to flower and plant to plant.

It is not hard to differentiate between blooms. The amount of white varies and the way the petals roll (or unroll) is inconsistent too.

The blooms are bigger than I expected, about 4". I find this clematis to be incredibly beautiful in color and form.

Wow- that is one happy, beautiful clematis. It looks so lush. I finally left mine for dead a few weeks ago when there were no signs it had survived, but yesterday my DH ran inside to tell me it was popping up out of the ground, and lo and behold, there were 3 tiny shoots coming up. I was SOO happy. So one of my little bitty Bluestone clemmies planted last fall survived after all :) I doubt if I'll get many (if any) blooms on it this year, but am so happy to have it in my garden. Beautiful! I planted mine late last summer
so hopefully I will get a few blooms. I cut it back this spring and it is rather small but growning.

I have a VV that I bought late last fall that's starting to bud out now. It's given me far more new growth already this year than I would have expected, so I have high hopes for the flower display!

It looks super! Mine is not very robust but I think it's having a time competing with the roots of the small tree it's growing on. I'm considering getting another one for another spot in the yard. HOpe it looks as healthy and full as yours!

Thanks everyone. I am almost embarrassed that VV is doing so well. Found in late fall at a local nursery, she looked dried out and dead. But the big pot was bulging with orange roots so I took a chance on VV. I didn't put a lot of effort into her planting.

I've gotta have one of those!!! Does anyone know where I can find one in SW Ontario? I have yet to find a source with good variety. Just the big box basics mostly around here. Love it Love it Love it!

I purchased one of these last fall from Koi Garden and although it wasn't very big when I received it, the root system was good. I'm not sure that it will bloom this year because I've been pinching it back and it's still quite small, say about 8-9 inches now, but getting fuller. So I'm looking forward to seeing it next year when I hope it will put on a great show for me!

I have mine growing up the side of a pine tree with Betty Corning growing on the other side. I had doubts that these two clems would even come back this year under the pine but they're doing very well.

Thanks for posting that photo, I am even more anxious to see how well my VV does this summer and even more so next summer.

Harry, I was sitting on the deck the other night looking at VV and thinking the same thing. Probably one of the most impressive first year clematis I have ever grown other than Rooguchi and Betty Corning. I need at least one more in my garden!
