Fertilizers and.....

I havent seen anyone post anything about what they use for fertilizers, additives....etc....I know sometimes people get funny about letting somebody else know what they use but I think its something that should be addressed more often..I have to say Ive been using the bloombooster since day one but some of the older wiser brug growers have a different view...I have also used a liquid fertilizer for seeds and seedlings that I adore....Eleanors...anybody else want to share their secrets?..Judy

I would love to know also. I just found out, that I am suppost to fertilize( read on this forum). I have never put fertilizer on my plants, but I do put coffee grounds at least once a month. Next year I will try fertilizer, so I can become a member of the 300 club. Barbra

So glad you brought this up...I use seaweed , Super Thrive and rain water(if I have it) everytime I water a potted plant.. The Brugs, Banana's and Passi's get composted manure banana peels , pecan shells . I mulch with grass clippings and leaves. I am a lazy gardener...LOL

I use a bunch of different things depending on the time of year. When I transplant something it gets a dose of B-1 and Superthrive I also use both at the beginning and end of the growing season or when a plant is looking stressed. During the growing season I use kelp extract, compost tea and epsom salt once a month. I use a balanced fertilizer (20-20-20 or any equal ratio) 1x/wk for the first month then switch to a bloom booster (high middle number) 1x/wk for the rest of the season for mature plants. I don't use a bloom booster for seedlings that haven't reached blooming size. I also use Spray n Grow, Cocowet and Bills Perfect Fertilizer for a foliar feed every couple weeks during the growing season. That's for my container plants. I'm not as good about feeding the brugs that are inground but they get a top dressing of compost dug in a couple times during the growing season and I do fertilize them, just not as much. I occasionally add stuff like Sweet (a carbohydrate synthesizer) or other things that I pick up like fish emulsion, bat guano, worm casings, etc.

Where can I get the seaweed?...hasnt somebody said that seaweed was good for something else too?..Judy

You should be able to get seaweed/kelp extract at any nursery. I use it on all my plants. NEhydro.com and BGHydro.com both sell it. There's a number of different brands.

I am new to brugs, but as to houseplants in general  I am using water from my fish tanks for watering them. And gosh they love it! You can not go wrong with it  right temperature, water is soft (treated with water conditioner) and chlorine-free, rich with nutrients (I add special fertilizer for water plants and fish poo a lot too!). Now, I am watering my brug cuttings with this water  they seem to love it.

juttz, there are tons of stuff one can use for their brugs
from egg shells to lime to rose food to tomatoe food, compost, Peters and the list goes on. Each grower can list stuff and you have to find what works best for you within your budget.
