Remember it's an El Nino year.

spell it out, dottie- what's the mean? early or late frosts? cold or not so cold winter? I don't remember....

ok now I am all sorts of confused. Isn't El Nino warm and La Nina cool?

coorscat..the temps related to El Nino and La Nina relate to the recorded temperatures of the Pacific Ocean areas and their effect upon both the jet stream and our nations weather patterns.
To me , it has seemed that El Nino (the warmer waters) drive more extreme weather ..hotter in summer and colder in winter.

Last year was definitely colder here in the South.
It's not an exact science by any means . These 'oscillations' impact weather all around the Earth and we are so fortunate to live in a country better prepared to deal with weather shifts than third world countries.
Generally though, during an el Nino period, our southeast location in the USA means wetter/colder winters.
