Pruning different varieties

I've been mostly lurking in the rose forum, but I've got some q's now for you experts here. I've only had Jackmanii before, and that one's so easy that I am unsure about when to prune my newer, others, being that it seems some clematises change groups depending on zone...

Being that I'm zone 4 in MN, what can you recommend to prune these babies?

2nd year: Villa de Lyon, Ms. Bateman, Asao, and an unidentified purple 5-petaled, about 4 inches diameter, currently blooming

and...

Just planted this spring: Niobe, the President, Warsaw Nike, and Polish Spirit.

Any comments as well would be great!thanks!

I would prune them all as Jackmanni (hard) spring 2008 and I would prune the newly planted ones all hard the following spring 2009 too. It gets them off to a good start.

Polish Spirit and Ville de Lyon are both III's, I believe the rest are II's. I know Niobe, The President, Warsaw Nike and Asao are II's. Not sure about Ms. Bateman.

Niobe can be treated as either a II or III. In my garden it has always been treated as a type II. Ms. Bateman is a type II but what the hey, pruning types are just a suggestion and not an absolute.
