ivy topiaries-inside in winter?

I live in the Charlotte NC area & have 2 ivy topiaries in urns on my front porch. I bought them thinking they could last through the winter b/c ivy is so hardy & it doesnt get that cold here, although we do get overnight frosts & such in the winter.

I read something online that potted ivy DOES need to be brought inside in winter but I wasn't sure if it depended on the area.

My main concerns are the spiders/bugs that might be living there as well as the fact that the urns are open at the bottom so water can drain out, and I'm not really sure what I would put them on inside my house that would catch the water (the bases are square, about 8-10 inches in diameter or so).

Thank you!
