Hi,

Another year, the same old computer problems. I still can't post from Photobucket and, even worse, I can't see the images you post! That is a daily frustration.

However, I've included a link to a Photobucket album that contains the images mentioned in this message. With one exception, all of these are first-year clematises. I just bought this house two years ago and put the garden in last year. It's a tiny city garden. I've planted fifteen clematises, but many of them will be restrained by my pinching this summer. So here goes:

1. Hakuree with brunnera. I have a terrible sense of smell, but I could not catch a scent. She's had many, many blooms.

2. Petit Faucon growing through an itea and a leucothoe. I love PF, one of my favorites. As the vine and the shrubs mature, I think this combo will be terrific.

3. Margot Koster. MK will be joined on this fence by Fairy Dust, Chatsworth and Alba Luxurians. (Betty Corning, Bonanza, Palette and Sizai Ptitsa will be nearby on trees and various structures.) There's a second picture of MK here that shows more blooms -- and my hammock, a very important place.


4. Etoile Violette. This is the only mature clematis in the garden. She was all I had to look at last year and she bloomed her heart out for more than three months.

5. This is the arbor that will hold, left to right, Prince Charles, Etoile Violette, Dutchess of Albany and Emilia Plater. Only EV has blooms so far, though they're too dark to be seen at this distance. The arbor is covering an ancient garage. That's dwarf deutzia in front.

6. And, finally, Arabella, who's meant to ramble up a heptacodium, which I haven't yet limbed up. If Arabella doesn't look better than this when I do, I'll have to find another spot for her.

Something new has been in bloom every morning the past few days. It's wonderful!
