Yes...it IS Warsaw Nike! I remember the sign at the nursery said 'Warsaw Nike' but on the little tag in the pot it only says 'Nike'. Thank you for the link! Do you have this clem? The link is informative but I didn't see anything about sun exposure and I'd like to plant it where it will get only a half day....actually, the bottom of the plant will be in shade but when it gets to be four feet, it will be in all sun. It's the South side but the fence blocks sun until the clems get to a certain height. I hope it will realize that the sun is there if it just keeps climbing? I love it....it looks like velvet.

Hi, Westy. I have WN and like it very much. Mine flourishes in about a half-day sun. Whether it's prettier than Jackmanii is a matter of taste, I guess. With its brighter bluish tints, the Jackman ranks higher in my book.

Garystpaul - is your Nike more prolific than Jackmanii? I almost bought Jack, but this one was darker and I was going for dark. I think Jack is the most prolific and longest-blooming of all clems, right? Or is there another I should be looking at for all-summer blooms? Btw, are you in St. Paul?

Warsaw Nike, at my house gets all day sun from 11 on. The bottom is as you describe, against a fence.

It is flowering beautifully now (zone 5b, southern Ontario), topped out on the 6' arbor. Could have been on a higher one but.....
I prune as a group 2, if I get around to pruning that is.

I think Etoile Voilette and Polish Spirit flower the longest here for me. Starting now and going well into August.Dana

Westy, both Warsaw Nike and Jackmanii are pretty floriferous in my garden throughout the summer. If it's that dark velvety look you're going for, then you'd probably be happier with the Nike.

Yes, I live in St. Paul, a hellishly challenging place for a transplanted Californian to garden. Thank heavens for peonies, hosta, hardy roses, lilies and, of course, clematis :-) Gary
