I was surprised at the selection Menards had earlier this spring. I bought Huldine, Jackmanii Superba, and Comtesse de Bouchaud. Maybe the last one isn't so shocking, but I've never seen the first two locally. Steins has a much better selection this year, too - I found Arabella, and they had the species integrifolia in the perennial section. I found Duchess of Alabany (from Donahues) at a True-Value hardware store's garden center. The selection of clematis in this area is improving greatly.

I stopped by Menards the other day and was pretty dissappointed in what I found. They had very few "named" varieties, mostly just clematis labeled white, pink, violet, etc.... I rescued one of the unnamed white clematis. We'll see how it does.

I would love for this white Clem. to turn out to be Huldine, but I kinda doubt it is. We'll see. ;>)

The way the plants were labeled is really sad, "white", "pink" "violet" sheesh, but I shouldn't be surprised because Menards sells hostas with the dreaded virus and doesn't seem to care.
